Growing up with a brother six years my elder made it difficult to connect on a personal level. Enter Dudgeons and Dragons, the classic and most known of all tabletop RPG games. With my brother as Dungeon Master, I got to not only enter the realm of fantasy and role playing, but I got to connect with him through this fantastical environment. My curiosity and wonder manifested itself on a weekly basis as we tried to transverse the maze and obstacles he tormented us with.
Scenarios were presented.
Creatures were introduced.
Dice were rolled.
Challenges were faced.
And outcomes were successful or dire.
Most of all though, fun was had.
And my fascination with this medium never faded. Years later I found myself in the role my brother once held, and I got to enjoy the fun and amusement from the other side of the table. So began a long interaction with tabletop role play gaming, both as a player and as a game master. I look forward to extending my experience as a player with the Ancient Pine Players Presents The Dark Seas of Infinity. And who knows, I may even GM a campaign of my own down the road...err sea.
So how exactly did I get into this mess?
Well, our mutual friend had asked me if I would be interested in joining in his plans to launch a RPG event. Naturally, I was game. Weeks went by and nothing was mentioned again, until one day it came up in conversation. I again expressed my interest and our conversations took off. The following week, Jessie presented me with a rough drawing of a poster design...it looked as if things were on their way to get his plans afloat. Time went by and he was still working on hammering out the details for his proposed poster. He was also hoping to have a companion website to go along with the actual gaming. This is where I stepped in.
To get a feel for what the website would look like, I wanted to see what he had for a poster. He had a great start, and my joy in product creation took over. Before I knew it, I was working on the poster design and put together several alternate versions for Jessie to choose from. After he made his selection I knew I had to get the website pieced together. Despite some hiccups along the way, you are now able to enjoy the fruits of our labor. It was truly a collaborated effort every step of the way. I would create, Jessie would review and offer feedback. We bounced ideas off of each other and created what we both feel is exactly what Jessie had envisioned.
For my part, I am very proud of the work we have done and even more pleased that I could help Jessie see his concepts turn into reality.
So how exactly did I get into this mess?
A newly realized friend called on me for assistance, and I answered the call. I am excited for everything that awaits with the Ancient Pine Players Presents The Dark Seas of Infinity.
I look forward to playing beside everyone as we enjoy the wonders, and horrors, of this role play adventure.
Cordially,
Scott
