The sixth and final episode in The Dark Seas of Infinity's Funland: Dark Echoes mini-series.
Session Date: 17 June 2026
Scenario
Continuing from episode five, this unnatural amusement park called Funland is like no other place on Earth. The dead don't stay dead, injuries heal, and the only way out is to face dishonesty in a mirror.
The past episode of Funland: Dark Echoes saw a corpse that wasn't a corpse and it was freed, and when Bad Cop intimidation was ineffective, was charmed by Good Cop. Both played by our trusty lab assistant, but don't tell the corpse that. The remaining members of the film crew moved on and a sleepy reunion is had; anyone bring any Adderall? The aunt has been found, filled with exhaustion. Time then goes by when a few NPCs enjoy spewing some long winded monologues about this or that, the other, and kept droning on and on with no apparent end in sight as they must have love hearing the sound of their own voices because they kept talking and talking... Eventually, coming together results in a shotgun blast that, amazingly enough, doesn't last long. The healing factor in this place would make Wolverine jealous. And the conclusion saw one of our investigators munching her fears away in a bag of trail mix.
Characters
Jessie is the Games Master, the Keeper of Arcane Lore.
Edna Atkins (Scott): a lab assistant who has been hired by Leena Caso to help with her research into some sort of medication.
JJ Miller (Jason): a film student who is out to tackle a new film genre known as "found footage." He hopes this hair brain idea is the one that will finally break the mold. --WITHDRAWN--
Jennifer Jabran (Nickey): a student of investigative journalism. This character is being resurrected by Nickey, and this incarnation of Jennifer now gets to chase her dream of obtaining a college degree. Jennifer has also brought along Molly, her Australian Sheppard canine.
Sylvia Gordon (Patrick): a post-doctorate student who has been dragged to the park by a another student interested in making some sort of...movie. This better have been worth that 50 bucks.
NPCs
Gerald: Edna's younger brother and Leena's research patient. He is a special needs ,sweet caring young man who only wants the best for everyone.
Safiya Ali: found hanging by the throat on the chairoplanes apparently deceased, she turned out to be quite alive and was attempting to escape this place with suicide. That didn't work out well for her.
Aunt Jamie: Jennifer's lost aunt is found by a make shift bunker she built to hide away from all others. She seems to have an inability to stay awake, and she might be doing terrible things when asleep.
Ena Matthews: an angular woman with long blond hair and green eyes wearing an expensive but tattered grey skirt suit.
Leena Caso (Roz): a pharmacist on a mission to get the correct ingredients for a medication gone wrong. A pharmacist on the inside but on the outside she's a tough, strapping young frat boy with muscles for miles. --ABSENT: Turned NPC for this episode--
Episode Log
A discussion is had on where to go and the possibilities of getting out of the park. Why didn't anyone suggest to just flip a coin?
Mr. Leena speaks ... a lot. I mean, there were comas and semi-colons, the whole works.
Sylvia presents some logic: those who are able to leave need to help those who can't. This is flawless logic, helping those who can't help themselves. It's as obvious as....
Now we move on to exploring the healing nature of the park.
Jennifer attempts to stab herself, but fails.
Edna attempts to burn herself, and succeeds.
Whilst this happens, Mr. Leena, Jamie, and Gerald are talking amongst themselves. Put another way, the Keeper got a bit lazy with the NPC action.
Jennifer has a bout of madness from Edna's hand healing and is trapped in her mind hearing her favorite song: Smells Like Teen Spirit. Oh, and she gets a strong desire to go to the Tunnel of Love ride.
On the way, Edna explores a shed. Yeah, the only thing she uncovered was more shed.
At the Tunnel of Love, our investigators meet a thin, angular woman with long blond hair, green eyes, and wearing a tattered expensive-looking skirt suit by the name of Ena. One might say that her stylist was most likely a racoon.
Sylvia gives a very reasonable explanation as to what is happening, that makes absolutely no sense to everyone. Of course it's their inability to listen as to why they're confused though.
Marionettes are snatched off a wall by Edna and then smashed by Jennifer and Molly. Looks like the Puppet Master's attachment issues were taken care off.
Sylvia looks on wondering what the heck is happening. Didn't her Sci-Fi book talk about this?
This destruction results in Ena dropping to her knees in a sobbing mess. Of course anyone would also do this having seen their favorite toys destroyed.
With that, everyone makes it out of the park and Jennifer has one last delusion of J J before everyone clown cars it into Leena's tiny car and puts Funland in its rearview.
Character / NPC Fate
Edna: As a recruit for a secret agency, she has found a new lease on life, investigating mysteries similar to those that befell all who entered Funland.
Mr. Leena: After being arrested and her DNA coming up as an exact match to another person, she was given an ultimatum to accept a new ID and work for this same agency as an analyst.
Jennifer: Is having a fun time as a freshman in college. She has started her journey of earning a degree she so passionately hopes to achieve.
Sylvia: Not much is known of her fate, but we just hope that whatever she is off doing that she has vanquished her fear and ignited her bravery.
Gerald: He is so happy working at his new job at Chick-fil-A. If you were to ask him, he'd say he makes the best waffle fries this side of the Mississippi.
Aunt Jamie: After her ordeal and apparent development of Dissociative Identity Disorder, Jamie has been institutionalized to get the treatment that she so desperately needs.
