Episode Log
With Jason's absence, Jessie settles on J J Miller being sick from some questionable gas station cuisine. The food? It wasn't quite hotdogs. It wasn't quite taquitos. It wasn't quite sushi. It was warm, yet cold, yet hot, yet burnt, yet undercooked, yet flavorful, yet bland...anyway, J J spent the session laying in the back of the van trying to heal up.
When the duo of Leena and Edna arrive, Edna spots the van with the film crew (J J, Sylvia, and Jennifer) and bravely jumps out to go check it out. Leena doesn't notice this right away until Edna points it out. Leena stays put.
A nervous Sylvia and courageous Jennifer speak to Edna and they slowly warm up to each other. As they make their acquaintances, Leena decides to approach.
As the game gets rolling, Roz quickly fails two, yes two, listen rolls. Does someone need a hearing aid?
And we have some dog play, with Jennifer's canine, Molly, joyfully approaching Edna for pets.
While Edna and Sylvia hit it off, Leena becomes suspicious of Jennifer, who has been recording everything with her audio recording device. Jennifer agrees to put the recording device away as Leena scolds her about using it unlawfully. Leena was not about to be audio-assaulted.
So Roz says that Leena is heading back to her car for beer. Scratch that, Jessie misheard her. Leena is going back to her car for GEAR. Although, maybe a beer would be suitable to warm up to this place...according to Jessie that is.
However, Sylvia is actually bringing beer with her. So we got that going for us...which is nice.
Nickey, under heavy encouragement from Jessie, spends luck to have Jennifer discover her Aunt's RV. Wait, what? RV found but no Aunt? This is an aunt-igma.
The RV has no mirrors inside it, but it sure did have some other prizes. A shotgun, ammo, flair gun with two charges, and a couple of walkie talkies. Nickey has her character take all this stuff. Did she learn from not taking the rifle in the last series, Reeke Manor?
Jennifer offers the radios to Leena and Edna. "Everyone has a radio now, over." [copy that]
During break time Jessie asks everyone what the coolest thing they stole from a place of education or employment. This was meant for characters...we all answer for ourselves.
Leena and Edna stare at a disembodied clown head and weird images float through their heads. Do you think they wondered if it was safe to blink?
Side note: Patrick was using his fork as a toy and made, as it appeared to Scott, to be a Giraffe. We'll just leave that here.
Sylvia freaks out when Jennifer takes the shotgun. Was that a Remington or a remi-don't?
Leena enters the ticket office only to get startled by a rat. We're two series in, and twice now Roz's character gets started by a rat. Will this become a trend? Are the rats out to get her?
Also for the second time in as many series, Nickey's character finds a firearm. She casts...gun.
Wait! Does Patrick's character have a gun this go round? This needs answering, stat!
Scott fumbles a tracking roll and Edna estimates, rather wrongly, which way that rat took off. Some people are good at listening and seeing things, and not so good at tracking. Talents vary.
Jennifer's ability find things continues. In the ticket office, she discovers some old gum, a (working) lighter, a mirror with a smokey, mucky appearance, and some D batteries that strangely still work. Beware of undead batteries.
That rat shook Leena so much that she doesn't see things that everyone else notices. She couldn't see the forest for the trees. Well, she couldn't even make out the trees.
What everyone else sees is an unknown glittering something just a bit further down the path. Leena blows this off as meaningless, like installing turn blinkers on automobiles.
Jennifer attempts to contact JJ by radio only to hear a garbled mess, then they all hear an old lady in WI. She couldn't stop to talk as it was dinner time. She was a grandma on a mission.
This brought on sanity rolls, Patrick and Scott pass, Roz and Nickey don't. And so it begins.
Our investigators arrive at the Giddy Giggler clown car ride. The eyes of the clowns have been scratched off and the name of the ride graffitied to say Kiddy Killer. Not so urban-chic really.
Onward to the carousel with...zonkeys. Yes, zonkeys. Ask Jessie. Oh and those missing mirrors? Found them. They are no longer M.I.A., and not very good at hide and seek.
These mirrors have a smokey, mucky cloudiness that only Jennifer and Leena notice. Jennifer admits she found a mirror like this earlier. Now even those zonkey's are saying, WTF?
Enda, being Edna, only notices a mossy, plastic tiger among the rumble, and she pets it (of course). Finally, a tiger that's hypoallergenic and unlikely to eat her.
Sylvia sees her reflection in one mirror, and it shows a shadowy figure behind her. She turns and looks - nothing. Had to be just a prank, the demons will not be getting her today. Nope.
Edna does eventually notice how the mirrored ceiling titles have this smokey, mucky cloudiness to them and points it out to Leena. Roz notes that Leena sees it and then sees...
Did Roz just?
Wait, so did Roz just declare a drastic in-world move? --Stop the press--
Is Roz trying to GM or just will actions, beyond her characters capabilities, into game reality?
Anyway we look at it, we're left with the cliffhanger of one of those mirrored tiles...FALLING.
Scott just thinks Jessie needs a week to decide the result, Jessie declares he knows what will happen but wishes to wait for Jason to be present. Was that the truth or a polite fiction?
