"Alpha Sigma Sigma"
--Jessie
The third episode in The Dark Seas of Infinity's Funland: Dark Echoes mini-series.
Session Date: 13 May 2026
Scenario
Continuing from episode two, a decrepit old amusement park called Funland has already produced horrors of unimaginable proportions. These horrors quickly become the things of nightmares that all who visit absolutely fear, requiring them to experience dark echoes of the past.
Our newly minted friends have made their way past the ticketing office and a ride called the Giddy Giggler, to a carousel full of all the missing mirrors. With the sick student finally becoming active, he's able to start filming his master peace. However, he misses all the commotion down by the carousel where three mirrors make their way through the air to the ground. As a weird smoke emerges from one of the mirrors the strangeness starts to be passed out faster than a dog gobbling down a pup cup from the drive thru window. Two students and a dog go on a run, an investigator tries to make a new friend, an investigator becomes someone else, and one student makes a great shot...that is rather ineffective.
Characters
Jessie is the Games Master, the Keeper of Arcane Lore.
Edna Atkins (Scott): a lab assistant who has been hired by Leena Caso to help with her research into some sort of medication.
Leena Caso (Roz): a pharmacist on a mission to get the correct ingredients for a medication gone wrong. A pharmacist on the inside but on the outside she's a tough, strapping young frat boy with muscles for miles, a Greek lettering tattoo of Alpha Sigma Sigma on his left pectoral, and dirty blonde hair. Also, is that a spray tan he's sporting?
JJ Miller (Jason): a film student who is out to tackle a new film genre known as "found footage." He hopes this hair brain idea is the one that will finally break the mold. --ABSENT & WITHDRAWN--
Jennifer Jabran (Nickey): a student of investigative journalism. This character is being resurrected by Nickey, and this incarnation of Jennifer now gets to chase her dream of obtaining a college degree. Jennifer has also brought along Molly, her Australian Sheppard canine.
Sylvia Gordon (Patrick): a post-doctorate student who has been dragged to the park by a another student interested in making some sort of...movie. This better have been worth that 50 bucks.

Episode Log
Mr. Leena and Edna approach Mr. Fun's House of Hilarity which features a giant clown face in front with the clown's mouth as the entry way. Step right up folks, this will be fun. Ahem!
When they walk into the fun house through Mr. Fun's mouth. They observe cans of paint, cans of beer, emergency exits, an old metal slide leading to a ball pit, and three different obstacle course paths. Seems like there was a party that they were glad not to have been invited to.
The Gerald duo decides to go down the slide with Mr. Leena choosing to go first. Rats. No, not what Edna is thinking because she didn't get to go first, although we can see her being disappointed by that. It's what Mr. Leena encounters as she lands in the ball pit. Lots and lots of RATS. This one kind of writes itself.
Back to the film trio, J J, see's that the exit is blocked and runs off. He is later seen lifted up in the air by the stringy webby stuff and essentially becomes a NPC. His job is going to be to lay on the ground and stare into nothingness for the remainder of the story. Tough job, but someone has to do it.
Jennifer goes after him, leaving Molly with Sylvia. When she does, she sees weird glowing eye like things and hears voices. Yes voices. From people she recognizes. And, and...it's her mother's voice talking smack about her husband, Jennifer's dad. Talk about a strange time to hold a conference meeting in one's own mind.
So J J's flashlight and backpack fall, just missing Jennifer. She see's J J muttering and blabbering incoherently as his body is lowered. It's tangled up in these tendrils which are fused into him as it's lowered to the ground. This is where Jennifer's mother's voice has been coming from. Let's hope it isn't also telling her that she missed out on dessert.
We have a wee bit of radio chatter...yay, we remembered the walking talkies. Go us!
Edna needs to pee. This possible curve ball goes no where. Shame.
Mr. Leena and Edna traverse one of the obstacle courses and show off some sweet acrobatic moves in doing so. It's like they're trying to win an Olympic medal in Unnecessary Dramatic Flair.
They enter a hall of mirrors and see that same smokey mist in some mirrors, but Mr. Leena finds a clear-ish mirror and finally see's himself for the first time. (see above for description) Insanity consumes Mr. Leena yet again and she begins recording everything on a mirror using her knife as a writing device. I mean everything, from everyone's perspective as recognized by Edna. This does include Molly's perspective as well. How does she do it? How does she know? We may need the tootsie roll owl to determine this.
So the film trio, now a duo, having ran from the non-gate to catch up to Leena and Edna, move to fast to see any of the glowing eyes or shapes in the mist. They approach Mr. Fun's House of Hilarity and enter through Mr. Fun's mouth. Yeah, I typed that twice because I find it FUN to say.
More radio chatter ... blah blah blah ... "Did you say to attack or to back off?" Details matter.
So Jennifer clumsily goes down the slide because of, yeah Molly.
Sylvia goes down the slide with pose and grace. So essentially a sack of potatoes followed by a beautiful swan.
Scott rolls sanity and yet again passes...don't worry Scott/Edna, your time is coming. [insert evil laugh]
When Mr. Leena begins writing on a mirror with the smokey mist, Edna see's vague faces as she carves. Edna taps on the faces as if they were fishes in a fish tank. Nothing happens. No character interaction. Scott's play for Edna is 0 for 2 in trying to create some fascinating game play.
So now everyone is trying to catch everyone else up. The belief level varies between characters. Really though, would you believe these people?
Mr. Leena does end up putting her knife away in exchange for a notebook and pen from Edna. Nothing says "I'm handling this emotional breakdown in a healthy, mature way" like putting a dagger away on one's backpack.
Jennifer fully buys in to Edna's account of Leena's transformation into Mr. Leena, Sylvia is still a little skeptical of who this Mr. Leena is, and both Mr. Leena and Edna believe the film duo about the exit being blocked. We all trust each other implicitly, which is why we'll sleep with one eye open if it comes to that.
We end with psychology rolls and failures for all but one. This also results in Mr. Leena dropping like a sack of potatoes, passed out, but everyone else pretty much accepting the events and accounts presented.
Well, Edna is a little taken aback and unfortunately has a little itsy bitsy teenie weenie accident. What could that be? Stay tuned, same Funland time, same Funland channel.
Trivia
First occurrence of a character* dying in the middle of a story. In this instance, it was J J Miller who was essentially swallowed up by the park.
*This was done because Jason needed to withdrawal from this story for personal obligations.
