The fourth episode in The Dark Seas of Infinity's Funland: Dark Echoes mini-series.
Session Date: 20 May 2026
Scenario
Continuing from episode three, an amusement park called Funland, has ostensibly taken on it's own persona, requiring all who visit to be faced with frightful thrills. Hidden agendas and secret intentions are the order of the day, with the sole purpose to make visitors succumb to dark echoes of the past.
When we last saw our investigators...new friends that were separated, reconnected. One student was swooped away and mesmerized into a vegetative state; essentially swallowed up by the park itself. A strange entrance through a clown mouth was encountered. Rats and more rats. A need for a toilet was realized and abandoned. Some awesome acrobatics were on display. A first look at a new appearance. A knife became a writing tool. A dog gets forced down a slide and falls, rather ungracefully. The weirdness of Funland has been fully realized.
Characters
Jessie is the Games Master, the Keeper of Arcane Lore.
Edna Atkins (Scott): a lab assistant who has been hired by Leena Caso to help with her research into some sort of medication.
Leena Caso (Roz): a pharmacist on a mission to get the correct ingredients for a medication gone wrong. A pharmacist on the inside but on the outside she's a tough, strapping young frat boy with muscles for miles, a Greek lettering tattoo of Alpha Sigma Sigma on his left pectoral, and dirty blonde hair. Also, is that a spray tan he's sporting?
JJ Miller (Jason): a film student who is out to tackle a new film genre known as "found footage." He hopes this hair brain idea is the one that will finally break the mold. --WITHDRAWN--
Jennifer Jabran (Nickey): a student of investigative journalism. This character is being resurrected by Nickey, and this incarnation of Jennifer now gets to chase her dream of obtaining a college degree. Jennifer has also brought along Molly, her Australian Sheppard canine.
Sylvia Gordon (Patrick): a post-doctorate student who has been dragged to the park by a another student interested in making some sort of...movie. This better have been worth that 50 bucks.
NPCs
One creature of unknown composition
A fortune teller machine called Merlin's Prophecies.
Gerald: Edna's younger brother and Leena's research participant. He is a special needs sweet caring young man who only wants the best for everyone.
Episode Log
So last episode Edna had to pee. Well, not anymore. She accidently relieves herself from seeing Mr. Leena pass out. Ahh, relief never felt so nice.
Jennifer now goes across the obstacle courses to where Mr. Leena and Edna are, but she does not do it with the skill those two showed. Jennifer is not gravity's friend apparently.
We have a first aid check. Yup, Mr. Leena is out cold. The obvious is confirmed.
Edna feels they should refer to Mr. Leena as "they/them." Who knew she was the first to coin this usage back in good ol' '95? But does she get credit? Nope.
Molly, remember her? Well...she starts barking and having a fit. Look out, Syl...Sylvi..Sylvia! The other creature has found you! Luckily, Sylvia is able to dodge the creature and escape through an emergency exit with Molly. Yup, that is dog poo that Molly left for the creature. Who's a good girl?!?
Now it's time for Edna and Jennifer to escape, with...Mr. Leena. Jen gets their legs and Edna gets their torso. Off they go, carrying Mr. Leena through another emergency exit. So Leena has essentially become the dead weight in their own dramatic exit.
So the creature then begins to seep through the same exit that Sylvia and Molly went through. So its not a ghost since it didn't just phase through the door itself?
Our investigators reunite and go towards a light, they find the fortune teller Merlin's Prophecies. Jennifer drops Mr. Leena so she can put a quarter into this miraculously operation machine. Upon doing so, the machine speaks saying, "As you come to the Chairoplanes.... there are no chairs available...as you look up..." and cuts off. Then it spits out a piece of tape with, "Unexpected things may be found in strange places" writing on it. Cryptic message, much? It's like writing DO NOT TOUCH in Braille and watching people try to figure out what it says.
Jennifer then decides to open this blasted contraption up and the machine goes dead. She discovers there are no cords, and Edna also looks inside to see burnt out old circuit boards that in no way could be operational. Who knew fortunes could be told wirelessly.
History rolls related to the Chairoplanes:
Scott and Patrick fail their rolls so Edna and Sylvia only recognize that it's a ride.
Jennifer passes and recalls how it was a popular ride at this particular amusement park.
Roz fumbles so Mr. Leena now forgets they're even in an amusement park. Yup, that.
At least Mr. Leena is back with us just in time for everyone to go running again. Mr. Leena lags behind, I mean that's kind of expected. They've gone insane and now can't remember where they are. They have lost their mind and can't recall where they left it.
There's a strange figure up ahead, to the South. It's... It's... It's, Gerald. Okay, so Edna and Gerald, reunite in a hug. We then learn that Edna's brother came here to revisit his childhood and has now been cured. He goes into a laugh that turns into an emotional fit at him realizing he said too much when he said, "there was a seed of truth..." Yay, answers. Boo, more questions.
The creature following our investigators is pointed out to Gerald who states it needs to be put back into a mirror. A big mirror is needed. Is Gerald making a fat joke? Gerald!
Jennifer produces the small mirror she obtained in the office, Gerald does the "gimme" hand motion, takes the mirror, declares it to small, and tosses it the lake. Fishies need to see their reflections too you know. What if they're going on a big date with a school mate?
Edna forces her brother to tell her about the "she" and "he" that he mentioned. The "she" is Ms. Ena, the park's former PR person and the "he" is simply known as the Phantom of Truth. Yes, more questions indeed. This is like reaching the end of a rainbow and only discovering the terms and conditions for the pot of gold.
So the group now decides to take the long way around to the bumper cars in possible pursuit of Jennifer's lost aunt since that is where Gerald last saw her. Does her aunt know she's lost, though?
We'll return 3 June 2026 to see what follies our investigators will come upon next. See y'all then.
"You try carrying a body and running at the same time."

"You're not walking the dog, that dog is walking you."
